Review of One Eight Seven (1997) by James R — 21 Jan 2010
Finally a teacher movie that is realistic. Samuel Jackson plays a teacher who gets stabbed by a student in NYC and later moves to California hoping for a safer less gang infected environment. But not only is the school violence worse, the administrators do nothing to protect staff members and students until he takes matters into his own hands.
His getting the "tough" class as a substitute teacher involves more than desire to help them and them realizing it and submitting but real gang mentality is displayed in this movie.
