Review of Once Upon a Time in the West (1968) by Johnathon W — 01 Jun 2010
Sergio Leone's finest film, thanks to exemplary work by all involved, from Ennio Morricone's best score, gorgeous production design, and the four leads delivering some of the best acting of their careers (Henry Fonda in particular, finely gets show how good he could be at being a bad guy).
It's all held together, though, by Leone's brilliant direction who slow but deliberate pace builds the tension to a perfect pace & gives it a operatic feel, making one of the best, if not best, Westerns ever made.
