Review of Once Upon a Time in the West (1968) by Jeremy L — 21 Nov 2010
Wow! Sergio stepped up his game from the Eastwood trilogy. He still does that crazy thing with sound where he comes in after the fact and adds the voices, crickets, weather, etc....sometimes it works amazingly, sometimes it looks cheap and dubbed.
The camera work is amazing and Henry Fonda is supremely wicked while Charles Bronson is nearly lovable and quite the enigma in this film. Cardinale as the hooker-gone-good is forgettable and Jason Robards is just a fine actor.
Bravissimo Sergio!
