Review of Once Upon a Time in the West (1968) by Anthony P — 09 May 2013
A Western masterpiece!Sergio Leone perfected the genre with this film which far surpasses his previous iconic film, The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly, in every way.Expertly shot camerawork with large, breathtaking American landscapes and perfect choices of the mise en scene.
Characters are appealing, cool, sympathetic, at times funny or even despicable. You'll love and hate them. The movie isn't dialogue heavy and consists of deep, intense stares which in my opinion is better than words and only adds to the drama and theme of the movie just anticipating for when the violence finally starts on screen.
All I can say is that Once Upon a Time in the West is a perfect movie. It will definately teach you ways how to shoot a film if you aspire to become a filmmaker. It's entertaining, thrilling, and just plain badass.
