Review of Once Upon a Time in the West (1968) by S.w. F — 11 Feb 2011
One of the best western's ever made. The first 15 minutes of this film will grab your attention by it's silent stealth of tension while the opening credits flash by. The cinematography is brilliant, the acting and overdubs are trademark Leone with a hint of light cheesiness.
One of the only movies I can think where Henry Fonda plays the villain and does so wonderfully. The plot is thick with a multitude of notable actors portraying characters that are each different in their own ways.
With Morricone's score behind this, it's a hard movie to argue against, as one of the best of it's genre.
