Review of Once Upon a Time in the West (1968) by Jay L — 23 Jun 2011
"GREED, HONOR, REVENGE.".
Another monumental achievement from Director Sergio Leone, Once Upon A Time In The West is the ultimate Western. Leone's intensively operatic masterpiece unfolds with timely precision, spectacular style ad masterful technique. Once again, Leone's eye for detail is nothing short of immensely brilliant, and his direction is second to none. A model film for decades to come, an iconic point in cinematic history, this film is a symphony of absolute perfection and complete flawlessness. The West has never been better, Leone's talents came together in a wonderful blend of elements to create one of the most epic films ever produced. Once Upon A Time In The West and The Good The Bad And The Ugly have lived on through decades, and they still remain the two most legendary spaghetti westerns to ever hit the big screen. A western adventure that's unlike any other western adventure, watch as the old west gives way to a new west. Witness as mysterious pasts are revealed, loyalties converge and greed eats away at some of the strongest bonds. It's a gritty, bullet-riddled, yet subtle and emotionally intense experience that goes down as one of my personal favorites. A 3 hour long spectacle of thunderous proportions, on of the most critically acclaimed films of all time, and deservingly so. Pure perfection.
Classic performances from a cast for te ages. It includes epic perfrmances from everyone involved including the likes of Henry Fonda, Charles Bronson, Jason Robards, Claudia Cardinale and many more. A culmination of star-talent that's rarely seen in modern times. A film that belongs in every movie junkies collection.
