Review of Once Upon a Time in the West (1968) by John S — 16 Sep 2012
Once Upon a Time in the West is Sergio Leone's masterpiece, it's an evolution in his iconic style that was introduced through the Dollar's trilogy. It's a more mature, intricate, and touching evolution of the classic Spaghetti Western that he himself practically created.
The subtle intricacies, the loving homages, the intense action, the plethora of one-liners, the labyrinthine characters, and the epic storytelling all make for a hugely iconic, important, and influential landmark not just for the western genre, but for the history of filmmaking.
