Review of Once Upon a Time in the West (1968) by Cj O — 11 Mar 2015
The emotion, aura, and attitudes of the characters all define this well filmed and well composed western. Extremely essential to western classics, I can't see how The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly could be better.
"Once Upon a Time in the West" defines westerns. The shootouts are thrilling, the characters are all memorable, and the soundtrack is fantastic. Sergio's directing takes some unexpected turns, all that the camera greatly compliments.
The film would be perfect if it were not for that one unconvincing slap sound (the rest of the sound editing was perfect).
