Review of Once Upon a Time in Mexico (2003) by Dr. F P — 29 Apr 2013
Once Upon a Time in Mexico is a very fun movie. Its witty, in your face at times and the direction is pretty good with some questionable editing here and there. The characters are well constructed, but why was Salma Heyek in this movie? She had no purpose what so ever other than to be in constant flashbacks for Antonio. It sucks too, I was really expecting her to be the lead female in this movie. But whatever, it didn't really bring down the film. Johnny Depp is without a doubt the best part of the movie. His character is brilliant and his performance is near perfect. Throughout the whole movie I found myself wishing he would come back on screen when he wasn't. This movie was a blast.
B+.
