Review of Once Upon a Time in Mexico (2003) by Benedick L — 13 Dec 2009
A disappointing third part to the El Mariachi trilogy. The focus turns from the Banderas character, the whole point of the films, to a boring way too complicated who is crossing who coup d'etat tale.
Rodriguez does have an eye for stylish action which I loved in the film but the film is a mess and could have benefited from an outsider giving Rodriguez some guidance. It is a shame this film was the send off to the character as I feel it doesn't do it justice.
I can't recommend seeing this. Sorry.
