Review of Once Upon a Time in Anatolia (2011) by Dan H — 19 Nov 2012
Once Upon A Time in Anatolia is a slow paced, mesmerizing, cryptic masterpiece. The Turkish film might be a turn off to an American audience that is used to the fast paced, less reflective style of filmmaking that we have here, but if you have the patience, this film delivers incredible depth with simplicity.
We are slowly revealed key plot points and character backgrounds, until at one point towards the end of the film you realize you've been dragged into the character's everyday struggles. I had tears in my eyes watching everything come together at the end.
This isn't an official review, and I know it's all over the place, but do yourself a favor and see how the Turks do cinema.
