Review of Once Upon a Time in America (1984) by Dick D — 15 Feb 2010
Fragments of memories arise in the ecstasy of opium - and the man who finally forgives everything his friend had done to him and his own way of life. This is not a typical gangster film, or even a typical drama - there's not good or evil but just a life.
Leone, I think, made this film fully for himself, of course, to make this as his own final piece.
