Review of Once Upon a Time in America (1984) by Jonny C — 23 Mar 2010
A major disappointment. I found it overlong, with a ridiculous conclusion. The first hour where they flashbacked to the characters youths was unnecessary and at times cringe worthy. The second hour had a better narrative with some impressive scenes.
And then the scenes shot in modern times were overly soapy and melodramatic. The acting was well delivered, but let down by a messy storyline, and bad editing. Overall, an overrated movie from a great director.
