Review of Once Upon a Time in America (1984) by Renaud M — 04 Aug 2010
WTF all the way. Predictable and not-so-interesting story line is dramatised to the extreme: I suppose that's what Sergio Leone has always done but here, it's just weird. It's not particularly funny, not particularly engaging and most of all, unlike the previous Leone films, it's not at all charming.
The result is WTF from the beginning to the end. Really, I have the highest respect for Sergio Leone and I think "Once Upon A Time in the West" is not just one of the greatest Westerns, but one of the greatest movies ever made, but I got to be honest about this one.
Really WTF... Nice music though.
