Review of Once Upon a Time in America (1984) by Sidney S — 11 Dec 2011
Epic film making and no doubt one of the greatest stories ever told and may be the defining film of the great director Sergio Leone. This 4 hour epic is one of the greatest gangster movies of all time.
The film features great performances from its leading cast and even the teen actors portraying the crew when they were young. Robert De Niro and James Woods give some of their greatest on screen performances of all time, their closeness was like brothers but ultimately it crumbles.
The film is a great throwback to some of the classic gangster movies with Cagney. The film's score truly brings out the emotional atmosphere. Some of the shootouts and mob scenes were very well shot as well.
Spectacular, groundbreaking and one of the all time greats. Once Upon A Time In America is a truly excellent movie experience.
