Review of Once Upon a Time in America (1984) by Vincent O — 30 Dec 2011
Sergio Leone's movie is of such epic proportions that it makes the opposition look silly. Really such a masterpiece from start to finish. The final shot when Robert De Nero, smiles into the camera is like the perfect ending and anyone who has the slightest interest in cinema will have exactly the same expression.
What a film to go out on but the terrible initial cuts (I feel), took a great deal out of Leone and that is a great sadness. Thankfully his stunning vision has now been completely and fully restored.
