Probably the most ambitious film of Sergio Leone's carrier, Once upon a Time in America aims to be a mob epic that can stand toe to with the Godfather and in many regards it succeeds in doing this with Leone's overpowering visual style, more intimate human connections between the characters and Oscar worthy performances from Robert DeNiro,James Woods and Tuesday Weld.
