Review of Once Upon a Time in America (1984) by Sleez B — 11 Jan 2012
Once Upon a Time in America, there was this movie from Sergio Leone starring Robert De Niro, James Woods, Joe Pesci, and Elizabeth McGovern. The story told about a man named Noodles (De Niro) and his life of crime and friends in a non linear chronological narrative.
The story had romance, suspense, drama, and violence. The violence and blood in the film were vividly visual and colorful that one could have sworn they were watching Taxi Driver. It was aesthetic to see such blood, but there were other material that Leone found the aesthetics in.
Beautifully shot and directed with strong performances, Once Upon a Time in America is an impressive and visual film. It is in 2 part film connected with an intermission.
