Review of Once Upon a Time in America (1984) by Nigel L — 26 Sep 2009
Leone's operatic style doesn't translate quite as well to the gangster genre as it did to the western, but this is a fine film nonetheless. Its weaving in and out of 3 timelines in a dreamy fashion does require some effort to follow, but it feels so organic.
..like a flow of thought. Gorgeously shot, wonderfully acted and beautifully scored. There are a few moments which stretches believability, but this is a transcendental film experience.
