Review of Once Upon A Mattress (2005) by Dano S — 09 May 2009
Honestly, I'm not quite sure what to say about this exceptthat it's a good musical, a terrible movie. The acting sucks, the pacing is rushed, the sets are cardboard and the costumes look purchased from your everyday Halloween superstore.
But the songs are amazing, voices and all (in a sappy, Rodgers & Hammerstein kind of way). Zooey Deschanel is my favorite - she's uber-hot and she has the most amazing voice ever. And after a while you have to admit that if this was a real 60's musical, maybe it wouldn't seem so stupid.
But for whatever reason, it does. I'll never, ever watch this movie again, but I admit that I'll be humming "Happily Ever After" and "Normandy" for a while.
