Review of Once (2009) by Aj S — 06 Jul 2010
At times the movie will tend to fall flat, mostly just the beginning, but it really picks up with it's teriffic music and special performances by both Glen Hansard & Markéta Irglová. The film itself is so simple, that it's simplisty makes the movie refershing to endure.
It's an unconventional love story and also an unconventional musical, which were two aspects I admired from the film. Also the use of natural lighting and handheld camera work gave the movie more of a realistic look, almost like a documentary, like they're documenting the lives of these to aspiring musicians.
Good movie overall.
