(2007) Once.
MUSICAL.
Already aware that this film was an Oscar winner for Best song at the Oscars for Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova and already made some assumptions about what their relationship is really like and by the time the film was over- the film was not exactly what I expected to be since its best described as a semi- documentary style convenvenient to the two leading stars of Glen and Martika. Like "The Blair Witch Project", "Paranormal Activity", and "Cloverfield" the overall film is somewhat improvised in which the film showcases how two mature adults get together because of their passion for music! The film starts off with Glen playing his guitar on a sidewalk for change until a stranger (Martika) comes up to him and starts commenting about his playing- as soon as they coincide is when more revelations about who and what they re while living on the poor streets of Dublin, Ireland! Whats really fascinating is the backdrops as well as the possibilities of what life is like living as a low class musician in Dublin, Ireland which can be a similar lifestyle somewhere else for instance playing for a meal!
When the film was over I ended up with more questions than answers such as how much is this relationship is true and how much of this is improvised in terms of the percent of the overall film. And although the DVD offers interviews by its two leading actors as well as the director of the film- I didnt really care since the overall film has a beginning, a middle and an end!
4 out of 4.
