Really overrated. It is fairly good, but it's not strictly a musical, in the sense that story is expressed through song - it's instead a film about music with people performing songs in it. You care about the couple to the extent that you want them to do well, but I didn't find either character that likable.
Nothing really happened (not in the good way) and it just wasn't that compelling. You have to give it credit for its uniqueness though. And I liked that the ending subverted expectations and resulted in them being apart and with their previous lovers, rather than ever getting together.
