Review of Once (2009) by Tonmoy R — 07 Dec 2012
''Fantastic stuff. That'll be a hit, no question.''.
A modern-day musical about a busker and an immigrant and their eventful week in Dublin, as they write, rehearse and record songs that tell their love story.
Glen Hansard: Guy.
Markéta Irglová: Girl.
Once was first recommended to me by my friend MK off Flix, and I'm pleased I finally got to see it.
Once is a love story told in an unusual modern Musical way. Of course it's story has been done before but it's a story that for a romantic fool like me has resonance and poise that I can relate to. Being from Irish Origins myself I instantly felt at home with Once which asserted itself instantly within my heart.
It's an emotional journey that shines brightly through music, through passion and through something I love. I appreciate Song writing and of course it's a way of letting out emotions. For me to pick up an instrument and let out your emotions, that release is heaven and a comfort.
For me Once is that glimpse into love, into music and like the flicker of a candle light that burns bright it's at that moment when it burns brightest that really has to be admired.
A mini-Masterpiece which combines love, music and two souls that come together in a simple musical albeit modern way in beautiful Dublin.
