Review of Once (2009) by Drew R — 22 Aug 2014
In 2008 I rated this 3 stars, but today I give it 4 after a second viewing almost 7 years (!) later. The film has super beautiful music and the way it's shot to basically be a real-life relationship in a real life location provides much charm. Younger me had this to say about it, probably because I was tired that night.
"Overrated. I just don't get it. Yes, it's "charming" because it is filmed by hand-cam and has bad lighting, low budget, etc... but the story put me to sleep, too much cussing, too much accent, and not good enough songs. Yep, so now proceed to tell me how uncultured I am.".
Apparently I WAS uncultured because, while I still had a hard time understanding the accents occasionally, I loved the cussing and the songs. LOL.
