Review of Once (2007) by Jeremy O — 23 Nov 2011
This is what a musical is supposed to be: a film with great, organic acting, perpetuated by songs. Not just showtunes: ballads, contemplative verses, and heartfelt melodies. It isn't your run-of-the-mill Hollywood love-story, but it's not exactly inventive in its romance either.
Nevertheless, this film is a treasure, a piece of art, one that I'm sure will continue to find fans long after its release. If you love 'real-feel' cinematography and are into indie musicians, this affecting and emotional film is the one for you.
