Review of Once (2007) by Jeffery M — 02 Jun 2012
There's a scene very early in this film where the lead actor - a street musician whose name you never learn - is standing on the sidewalk as darkness falls, singing to no one. It's a song he's written, and the intensity of his performance lets you know this is a very special film indeed.
The film is a low budget production, which detracts somewhat, but a wonderful, real, aching portrayal ... of attraction, uncertainty, loneliness, celebration ... of life. Very real and unaffected. Brilliant!
