Review of Once (2007) by Late R — 16 Aug 2017
A touching and realistic feeling story of two musicians -- one a busker, the other a classically trained pianist -- who fall for each other when they meet on a street in Dublin. The story unfurls so naturally with its sincere characters at its centre that you may forget that you're actually watching a film, an effect that is enhanced by Carney's subtle direction and the slightly shaky camera-work that deviates from the polished, Hollywood feel.
Finally, the music is passionate and heartfelt, written and performed by the two stars, playing a huge part in delivering an enchanting musical tale that you're sure not to forget any time soon.
