Review of On the Waterfront (1954) by Ryan K — 24 Sep 2009
This film was amazing! The acting was all so good. However, the themes, the plot and conclusion are all what make this one of the best films I have seen. It more than deserves all the Oscars it got. Rarely do I watch a movie (much less a very old movie) with as much intensity as I did Waterfront.
I was on the edge of my seat, I was rooting so hard for Terry, played by Marlon Brando who may give his best role (yes I've seen The Godfather). I also loved Karl Malden's character as the upright priest.
The best part about this movie is the subtlety with which they handle Terry's past life as a boxer. It isn't mellow drama because Brando sells it so well. One of my instant favorites.
