Review of On the Job (2013) by Abby M — 19 Jan 2014
OTJ is the first of its class in Philippine cinema. No other film has yet to reach this type of caliber that can go head to head to any international art film or Hollywood movie. OTJ removed some of the cliches that makes Filipino movies a big bore to most viewers.
One of which is the story itself, it's fast-paced. I never saw any Filipino movie that moves its plot in this kind of pacing. It is also a very unique story of a prisoner as a hitman, which is a compelling story.
Matti's very distinct shots and production also helped which is also non-linear from the traditional Filipino film-making. The shots and sets are just incredible. And lastly the all-star cast, takes guarantees the film will provide a supreme performance in acting.
Joey Marquez delivers a superb performance also, by far his best acting in his career.
