Review of On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969) by Rachel F — 05 Sep 2009
I have always been under the impression this was one of the worst Bond films but after re-watching it realize I was completely wrong. In fact this film is one of the truer adaptations in the series. Lazenby is not Sean Connery but still gives a great performance as a Bond within which we see a humanistic side.
It also seems there is a lot less focus within this film on the usual Bond gadgets and more focus on legitimate action sequences. I also liked Telly Savalas playing a more active, sinister Blofeld. The film didn't do well at the box office which is probably why we were subjected to 15 years of Roger Moore and that is a shame because I would like to have seen more of this type of Bond film.
