Review of On Golden Pond (1981) by Drew C — 03 Aug 2007
Coming to terms with mortality, family, and forgiveness, are themes fully realized in this much beloved film starring Henry Fonda in his last film. Katharine Hepburn plays his admirable and worried wife, and her indespensible spirit is written all over her performance.
Jane Fonda is the true surprise here playing a woman who is troubled by her wounded relationship with her father, not much unlike the one she and her own father notoriously had in real life. Shot beautifully and heartfelt, On Golden Pond is a film for all generations.
