Review of On Deadly Ground (1994) by James P — 17 Jul 2007
Ok. You want action. We have action. You want Steven Seagal talking in a raspy low toned voice...you got it. You want Michael Caine putting on a terrible American accent and surrounding himself with a cadre of well recognized hoodlums including Billy Bob Thronton.
...not a problem. You want a movie that tries to preach about what we are doing to world, but actually is just an excuse for one loud explosion after another...this is the one. I cannot say enough good things about this movie.
Sure the plot stinks, sure 99% of the acting is terrible, over the top and cheesy, sure Steven does exactly what he does in every other movie he has ever made (but at least he was on the slimmer side in this one).
But god dammit if this isn't an entertaining piece of shit. Check your brain at the door for this one and be sure that you will not be picking up until credits roll. This is one of those movies that just so bad it is actually good.
Now we just need "On Deadly Ground 2: Darker Territory" where Steven plays an ex-CIA operative who now just so happens to be an oil rig expert/astronaut and is on a mission on Mars when the shit hits the fan.
