Review of On Chesil Beach (2018) by Mark B — 05 Jun 2018
Basing a film on a 166 page novella could have proven difficult but as the screenplay was penned by the award winning author it translates into a meditation on class and how time slowly changes the societies we live in.
I thought it was beautifully crafted and the scenes on the beach have stayed with me and feel truly iconic. Two people at the beginning of their adult lives together, yet alone in their feelings which they are unable to communicate.
The beach providing a visual reference of their emotional isolation. I found it very moving.
