Review of Om Shanti Om (2007) by Bhaskar S — 18 Feb 2008
Although I am not experienced with Bollywood/Hindi films, I found Om Shanti Om a regular riot, with some great songs and a thoroughly entertaining romp through the 70s period of the Indian film industry.
While the second half is decidedly less of a comic act and more of a (quite poorly paced) thriller, the main relationship of the story stays in focus despite unforseen circumstances. The acting is appropriately over-the-top, while the song-and-dance sequences are wonderfully choreographed.
It may not be the most solid film, but it can guarantee a hilarious satire and homage to the Hindi film industry.
