Review of Om Shanti Om (2007) by Peter A — 17 Jul 2008
There is a lot of good here. There is also a lot still lost in translation (though even a paleface like myself can appreciate the Dhoom 5 joke). And there is some shit that's bad no matter what language you speak.
However, it managed to entertain for most of the absurd 2 hours 47 minutes. How exactly does Bollywood do it? They earn millions more per week than hollywood films with much less variety, little to no sex to sell, and movies that take up an entire afternoon.
And considering the population of India is at least as competent if not more so with the computers and internets I can't imagine piracy is less of a problem there. What is the secret?
