Review of Olympus Has Fallen (2013) by Matt N — 17 Nov 2013
When I saw the premise for this movie I immediately thought that it would take quite a bit of suspension of credulity to think that a foreign terrorist group could take over the White House. However, the merciless violence and seemingly highly-organized tactics of the antagonists made the concept almost believable. At least as believable as was necessary to move past that objection and actually enjoy the movie.
This is non-stop action. Heart-pounding thrills, gut-wrenching situations, and very believable characters. Gerard Butler is great; Aaron Eckhart is awesome. And Morgan Freeman. What can I say... He MAKES one of the most important scenes in the movie (when he confronts the "General" dude).
If you don't have an aversion for violence (there's a lot of blood splattered on the pristine White House portico, and even a bust of Abraham Lincoln is used in a death-blow), I think you'll enjoy this thriller. I did.
