Review of Olympus Has Fallen (2013) by Jake H — 21 Jun 2014
What with the North-South Korea conflict being the top headlines nowadays, this movie could not have been released at a better (or worse, in some people's opinions) time.
Anyway, I enjoyed this movie immensely!! This exciting thriller kept me at the edge of my seat throughout the movie!
What I like about this movie.
1. Large-scale, albeit a bit over the top, destruction scenes.
2. Exciting fight scenes.
3. The display of bravery, loyalty and patriotism displayed by the hostages. So touching *sobs*.
4. The plot was fast-paced and editing was tight and well-done.
What I did not like about this movie.
1. Some of the things just seem so impossible at least to me. Like how did all these people get near the White House with so many weapons and firepower?
2. Does the Korean sound weird to anyone?
3. The characters in the movie seem one-dimensional. There's the hero, the villains and the hostages. There doesn't seem to be any character development. Although I guess the purpose of this movie is to show how Mike saved the hostages and possibly America, not develop Mike's character.
This movie really ignited strong emotions in me and brought forward issues for me to ponder over. Like terrorism, patriotism and the North-South Korea conflict.
Conclusion:
I really enjoyed this movie and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good thriller.
