It would be a fun die hard clone were it not for the implausibility of the vast majority of the film. I can't really fault them for the weak CGI effects that are plaguing Hollywood right now. However, the whole movie hinges on our acceptance of ridiculous impossibilities.

How does the airplane get over the Capitol before planes are scrambled? When it shoots down two planes, why is only one scrambled to shoot it down? Why do the secret service agents insist on running into enemy gun fire? Seriously.

Take cover. Gerard Butler is taking cover, but apparently everyone else mistakenly thought they were bullet proof. Furthermore the contention that we would consider abandoning South Korea to protect any president, no matter how great he's supposed to be is ludicrous.

That these sorts of "tense questions" are what the plot hangs on undermines the fine performances of much of the cast.
