Review of Oliver & Company (1988) by Kadeem S — 05 Sep 2012
I really liked Oliver & Company. I agree with Roger Ebert because I know it's not as good as all of the Disney classics combined, but with a nice sleek style of amazing cast of characters and a strong resemblance of future Disney classics like Lilo & Stitch and Treasure Planet, I think some critics were definitely wrong about why Oliver & Company got mixed reviews, the first and only movie in the first 100 years of the Mouse House and it shouldn't have happened.
The movie is not that bad and I was saying "Gene Siskel, what have you could've done wrong to give the movie a 'Thumbs Down?'" Disney movies like The Black Cauldron, The Rocketeer, and The Rescuers: Down Under weren't that even good if it weren't for a bunch of mistakes and making kids to see $10 bucks to see a vile and unfamiliar feature film in the now-defunct Renaissance-era.
I hope if Disney could re-release the movie to 3-D soon, maybe the critics could forgive the movie and let's make this a truce. Bottom Line: Disney's Oliver & Company is a short but sweet and one of the best Disney movies of all time.
