Review of Olga's Girls (1964) by Sarah O — 10 Jun 2007
"Olga's Girls" isn't going to be everybodys cup of tea. I'll say that right now. However, the film reamins to be a strange and interesting little film, and a fascinating look at how perverse grindhouse film makers were able to push the envelope of sex, S&M and sick fetish fantasies, and still get around the sensors.
In a time when the pornography industry didn't exist, filmmkers had to be more creative in creating ertoic films for thier audience...especially niche films such as the S&M market. Thus, while there is no denying that Olga's girls is a sleazy sexploitation film, there is no full frontal nudity and no sex.
The beautiful and gracefully, yet cold as ice, Audrey Campbell plays Mistress Olga, a communist drug pusher and prostitute ring leader who keeps order in her organization by torturing the girls who work for her.
However, when the girls rebel, is it the end of Olga's reign, or is it just the beginning of a horror that they could never imagine? Audrey Campbell is an amazing screen presence and what is the most suprising thing about this film is just how beautifully it is filmed.
The director and camera man are true masters of thier crafts. The most amazing thing is that nothing like this was ever seen again until Quinton Tarantion brought out Hostel, but Olga's Girls is far more sexier.
If you liked this make sure to look for the sequals, "Olga's House of Shame" and "Olga's White Slaves of China Town.".
