Review of Oldboy (2013) by Benjamin L — 07 Dec 2013
I honestly can't see all the fuss over this remake; and this is coming from someone whom doesn't really care for Spike Lee. To me, Lee pretty sufficiently replicates (though implementing slight tweaks here and there) a very original story immersed with inevitable shock value.
I suppose if loyal fans (of the original) watch this remake expecting a carbon-copy of the cult classic, they might be disappointed. Brolin, Copley, and Sam Jackson deliver admirable performances that bring justice to its Korean predecessor.
