All anyone is saying about Spike Lee's adaptation of the South Korean cult classic Oldboy is how much better the original is... And it's completely understandable. The direction of this film is so sloppy and emphasizes the completely wrong aspects of the story.
The usually solid Josh Brolin delivers one the weakest performances of his career. The cinematography is poor (comparatively speaking) and the style far too mainstream for a story like this. Bottom line, watch the original, it's incredible.
