Review of Oldboy (2013) by Robert P — 07 Mar 2014

I knew this wouldn't be good. It couldn't be. Yet I still had to watch it anyway. The original Old boy is one of my all time favorite movies. The only reason I gave this even one star was for the performances from Sharlto Copley and Elisabeth Olsen. Everything felt rushed and watered down. I did read that this version wasn't how Spike Lee wanted it to be, so maybe there's a chance that his version will be released and maybe I'd consider revisiting this and see if it was better or even worse .

But I'm glad this movie was a failure. This remake was completely unnecessary and I hope that very few people come across this movie. Do yourself a favor and watch the original instead. And watch the original the proper way.. With the foreign audio and English subtitles.
