Review of Oldboy (2013) by George B — 03 Jul 2014
This film exceeded my expectations; it remains enticing due to the brilliance of the plot it inherits from Park Chan-Wook's stunning original. However, the film lacks anything new and feels too obvious and blunt in its storytelling.
Fortunately, due to reliable performances from Brolin and Olsen (and an interesting one from Sharlto Copley), the film remains enjoyable.
