Review of Oldboy (2013) by Stephen S — 08 Aug 2014
I haven't seen the original Korean film this is based off of, most of the criticism is why make a remake of a supposedly great foreign film. Nevertheless, I'm a big fan of Brolin. Gritty, visceral, and even a disturbing twist.
I love the premise of being locked up for 20 years and being set free with no understanding of why you were locked up and even better, why were you set free. I think there may be a better way of presenting that idea.
There were some issues, the fight sequence seemed a bit uncoordinated and the dialogue on certain scenes was awkward.
