Review of Oldboy (2013) by Sarfaraz A — 18 Feb 2014
This OldBoy directed by Spike Lee, is remake of South Korean worldwide hit of the same name. First time when I had read that the names like Will Smith and others were on the table for lead actor, I became entangled - but as the project went on to suffer even more obstacles I sort of lost interest in it. My further disappointment came with casting of Josh Brolin. I would've wanted Leonardo DiCaprio or Javier Bardem. Below average film, too lengthy and lacking in potential to stick audience around it.
Sharlto Copley is perfect for the role of 'Adrian - the stranger' but it is not enough to make this remake blunder even a bit closer to the original. We knew the Korean version to be everlasting film 'first impression is the last impression' kinda film. Don't waste your time.
