A psychological revenge tale, Oldboy tells the exploits of a man held captive in a room for 15 years who is dumped back onto the streets. Why was he imprisoned? Who did it? Why set him free? That is all told through this meticulously planned out film.
Oldboy has been one of those movies I've always heard about but never got around to seeing but I always held it in high esteem from word of mouth. With that in mind, I did have (somewhat) high expectations and they were met for the most part.
The film is excessively violent, offbeat (squid anyone?), and intriguing enough that it should satisfy anyone in the mood for some Dumas-like revenge.
