Oldboy is a great representation of South Korean cinema. It exposes a protagonist who is somewhat the villain, and it is curiosity, vengeance and mystery that align the story with his motives. Delving into grounds and taboos most cultures would find shocking, this movie breaks all barriers to tell a story from an angle most don't dare risk.
It is a brilliant masterpiece with brilliant acting and a perfect balance of characters and their opposing views. Vengeance is brought to life and questioned with breath-taking realization.
