This movie is a thrill ride. Are there some scenes that are hard to watch? Yes. But they reveal something, they have a purpose. To watch this film is to watch a work of art that transcends its genre. It something much deeper than it appears to be.
The film offers themes that stretch beyond revenge. It shows how our past can come back to haunt us. It shows the power of desperation and the will to seek the truth. The violence in the film isn't just for show, it is either to expand the plot or show us more about the motivations and dimensions of the main character.
